OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Through assessments, recommendations and therapeutic interventions, the occupational therapist enables his clients to become as independent as possible in their daily activities at home, at work and during their leisure activities, following musculoskeletal injuries. The occupational therapist specializes in working with clients with hand and upper extremity injuries by providing treatments in the clinic as well as by manufacturing custom splints. The occupational therapist also works with clients with back injuries and lower extremity injuries in order to maximize their potential to return to work through the evaluation and development of work skills. The occupational therapist may also carry out the assessment of your workstation to ensure that your return or reintegration to work is a success.

PHYSIOTHERAPY

 

The physiotherapist treats disabilities resulting from injury or disease affecting the muscles, joints and bones as well as neurological, cardiac and circulatory systems. Their role is to help clients regain their maximum physical capacities according to their individual recovery potential.  

Various approaches and therapeutic modalities are offered:

  • Manual therapy

  • Global postural re-education

  • Lymphatic Drainage (lymphedema)

  • Temporo-mandibular joint rehabilitation

  • Mobility exercises

  • Muscle building

  • Ultrasound, TENS

  • Thermotherapy (heat and ice)

MASSAGE THERAPY

The massage therapist works on the human body in many different ways and can help to prevent disease, improve health and promote the well-being. Massage is more than just a relaxation technique, it helps reduce tension, pain, etc.

OSTEOPATHY

Osteopathy is a manual technique aimed to restore the function of all body structures and systems. A complete and comprehensive assessment allows the osteopath to investigate any dysfunctions in the body. Osteopathy can offer preventive or curative treatments with specific and individualized therapy.

MARIO DE ALMEIDA

Occupational Therapist, Owner

Mario graduated from the University of Montreal in 1998. He developed his extensive knowledge of hands and upper limb extremities from working in a hospital trauma center. He is an expert in hand therapy and manufacturer of custom splints for the upper extremities. In addition, Mario is a recognized speaker and is responsible for clinical teaching at the University of Montreal. He has completed post-graduate courses in functional capacities evaluation and workplace ergonomics assessment.

He has been for several years the coordinator of the Montreal Hand Therapy Interest Group and was one of the co-creators of the group's web site.

Mario is a member of the Ordre des ergothérapeutes du Québec (OEQ), the Association des ergothérapeutes en pratique privée (AQEPP) and the Canadian Society of Hand Therapits (CSHT).

MONICA MORA                                      Physiotherapist

Monica a diplômé en physiothérapie en Colombie en 2001. Elle a complété le programme de qualification professionnelle en physiothérapie à l’Université de Montréal en 2012. Elle a de l’expérience auprès de plusieurs clientèles : adultes, personnes âgées, sportifs, oncologie, prothèse totale de la hanche et prothèse totale du genou, rééducation vestibulaire, neurologie et cardio-respiratoire. Elle a aussi obtenu un certificat en gérontologie en 2012 à l'Université de Montréal.

Monica est membre de l'Ordre professionnel de la physiothérapie du Québec (OPPQ).

Kinesiologist

Ghislain is a kinesiologist who graduated from the Université de Montreal. He completed his bachelor’s degree in 2015 and his Master’s degree in 2017 where he specialised in physical rehabilitation, metabolic diseases and general fitness.

Ghislain contributed to the achievement of various training goals with all of his clients (Performance, rehabilitation, chronic pain, injuries, etc.).

His fitness assessment and his cardiovascular and resistance training will surely help you achieve your goals.

Ghislain is a member of the Fédération des Kinésiologues du Québec (FKQ).
